This abstract portrait series explores the power of positivity as it covers collaged criticisms with uplifting phrases.
It began with an idea - could I take critical words that had crushed people’s confidence and collage them into a painting. In doing so only remnants of the words would remain, like that wound that never quite heals.
And this is where I stalled with the collection, it felt like something was missing and I was putting too much pressure on myself that my work didn’t flow. I gave myself a break and worked on simpler pieces.
Then over Christmas it hit me, I wanted to be able to bring a more positive feel to the collection. So I decide to introduce positive phrases to cancel out the negative ones.
